ALEXANDER MCQUEEN: A BRIGHT STAR HAS FALLEN...

I was immediately saddened to hear about the shocking sudden loss and death of fashion great Lee McQueen, designer of the luxurious Alexander McQueen label today. The British designer was known for his sexy, innovative and funky designs and dressed celebrities such as; Madonna, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. In the fashion world his work has been described as cutting-edge, different, genius, imaginative and glamorous. His secondary line McQ was to be presented this week at the 2010 New York Fashion Week but the show was quickly cancelled. He has had amazing collaborations with Target, Samsonite and Puma including others. He inspired other designers and fashion design students around the world. His pieces were fresh, artistic and creative. He gave us brilliant things, and he will truly be missed.

Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw said: "Alexander McQueen made an outstanding contribution to British fashion. His extraordinary talent and creativity mean that his designs are adored not just by followers of haute couture but lovers of great style everywhere. This is a great loss to one of Britain's most successful industries and to the design world more widely."
